1087 Vacancies, One Notification: Karnataka’s Big Teacher Hiring Drive Begins 15 July
Karnataka's KEA has issued the KREIS Teacher Recruitment 2026 notification for 1087 posts, with applications open online from 15 July to 13 August 2026.
Karnataka’s residential school system is expanding its teaching staff in a big way. The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has issued the KREIS Teacher Recruitment 2026 notification on behalf of the Karnataka Residential Educational Institutions Society (KREIS), for a combined 1087 teacher vacancies.
The posts come from two notifications dated 10 July 2026 — 767 under the Rest of the State (RPC) cadre, and 320 under the Kalyana-Karnataka (KK) local cadre — covering language, science, mathematics, social science, and physical education teaching roles.
Candidates can submit applications online between 15 July 2026 and 13 August 2026, via kea.kar.nic.in or cetonline.karnataka.gov.in. To be eligible, applicants need a relevant Bachelor’s degree, a B.Ed qualification recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education, and a valid KARTET or equivalent TET certificate.
Karnataka’s recruitment rules also require working knowledge of Kannada and, generally, state domicile status subject to reservation norms. The minimum age to apply is 18 years, with the maximum limit and category-wise relaxations detailed in the official notification.
The selection process has three stages: an online written examination testing subject knowledge, teaching aptitude and language skills, document verification of shortlisted candidates, and a final merit list that determines school allotment and appointment.
KREIS operates under Karnataka’s Social Welfare Department, running residential schools modelled on Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya that provide free boarding, lodging and education to children from SC, ST, OBC and other economically weaker communities.
