You don’t need to quit your job to travel more, says this content creator

Countering the popular narrative that frequent travel requires quitting a job, creator Annie Sharma explains how careful planning lets her travel while keeping her 9-to-5.

Travel content online often celebrates people who leave their jobs and start exploring the world full-time. While those stories are inspiring, they can also make regular professionals wonder if travelling often is possible without making a major career change.

A recent Instagram video is challenging that narrative. Lifestyle and travel creator Annie Sharma explains how she fits travel into a regular 9-to-5 schedule by making practical choices rather than dramatic career changes. She avoids spontaneous trips, planning each one roughly two months in advance so she can calculate savings, expenses and how much leave she needs to take.

She also prefers trips of around 10 days rather than short weekend breaks, a length that lets her “sandwich two weekends” around days she spends working remotely. Remote work, along with income from social media content, sponsored activities and occasional sponsored trips, is what makes the arrangement financially possible, she says.

Her core message pushes back against a common assumption on social media. “You don’t have to leave your job to follow your passion because everyone on social media is saying you do that. Sometimes all it needs is better planning,” Annie says.
